I’m trying to get a handle on my feelings about higher education.  I am at heart a true believer…education is emancipatory…but what is higher education doing?  Catering to U.S. News?  The cynicism that graduate studies is receiving at times takes my breath away.  Positivism, post-structuralism, constructivism, quantitative, qualitative, what do we need and, more importantly, what do the students need?  How am I as an educator and a student making a difference?

My students are incredible as are my colleagues…I am reacting the cynicism of the social…disillusioned grad students…the commodification of education…
